Line Profile

Genesis Phantom Tip

Line Description

Float

The hollow core of the Genesis Phantom Tip Clear fly line has the lowest density of all clear cores. This core combines with a coating that also floats. The buoyancy of this line allows the angler to keep the fly where it needs to be while assisting in line management.

Memory

Line memory has long been an issue with floating clear fly lines. Our proprietary core technology combined with a secret polyethylene-blend coating virtually eliminates all line memory and offers a line that is hassle-free. We have tested the Genesis Phantom Tip Clear fly line throughout the world and it has proven to be the best floating clear fly line ever available and have less memory than even the most subtle lines (clear or opaque) on the market.

Durability

The polyethylene-blend coating found on the Genesis Phantom Tip Clear fly line does not contain the volatile chemicals that must be added to PVC in order to create a fly line. This shift in technology is important to maintain the durability of the line. Previously, these added chemicals would constantly leach out into the environment. This is why we steer away from PVC baby toys and food containers—they emit poison. As those chemicals migrate out of the plastic, a void is created in the compound. Not only does this alter the compound from its initial, intended characteristics, but that void forces the compound to crack over time. This is where the circumferential cracks on a PVC fly line are born. Add dirt, oil, and other foreign debris to the cracks and performance degrades. The Covert Clear fly lines do not lose material over time, and therefore do not crack. This is important in the overall durability of the line and its performance longevity for the angler.

Temperature Sensitivity

Fly fishing is a year-round sport and takes place in a variety of locations and environmental situations. For years, fly lines have been marketed as cold water, arctic, tropical, still water, warm water, etc. This delineation of the product line causes complexity for both anglers and fly shops. Genesis fly lines are suitable for all temperatures. A Monic genesis fly line will perform equally well in all temperatures, whether it is used for winter steelhead with snow on the riverbank or if it is being directed toward tailing permit from the bow of a hot skiff in the tropics. This saves the angler time, money, confusion, and space.
